[Mr. Kirkland]

“Mhm, sure,” Arthur didn’t even attempt to give him any sort of ego boost.

He settled against Alfred, comfortable on the other’s arm, pressed against his warm side.

“Well, you’re shattered because you have no stamina so you should sleep. I’ll just… read or something.”

[Assistant Jones]

Alfred gave Arthur a lazy smile before nodding, feeling rather tired.

"Do you have a book in here? There are a few books on my shelf," He mumbled, rubbing his eyes and stretching out lazily.

Soon he leant his head back on the pillow, closing his eyes and pressing closer to the other.

He wanted to stay content like this forever. He wanted to forget about all of their troubles.

"Night..." He mumbled before finally slowly drifting off to sleep.

Arthur rolled his eyes as Alfred fell asleep, remaining still for a few minutes so that the other could settle peacefully beside him. Soon, he was up on his feet and went to the shelves, searching through the titles of Alfred’s books in boredom. He couldn’t see anything particularly thrilling there. He wasn’t really sure what he’d been expecting, but he’d certainly hoped for something more interesting than this.

He found some parchment and left a note for Alfred on his bedside:



He went to his room, where he stayed for the night.

A few months later and it was obvious that Madeline was getting bigger and just glancing off to the side, he could easily tell who the man was that she was with. He was a sweet boy, a servant to say the least but sweet nonetheless. He knew him only a bit but he knew that he faired from the Kingdom of Rus', a smaller town in there. A farming village to be more precise.

But that was of no matter. Alfred knew that the boy was good for Madeline and for that...he was proud. It wasn't like he was doing much better, considering all the sodomy he has been doing over the past few months.

Yet Alfred was there for Madeline every step of the way while also spending his time with Arthur and loving him with his heart and his body.

Soon enough though the nine months had passed and Alfred found himself waiting awkwardly outside the bedroom, absolutely worried for his sister. Not all women made it through giving birth and he hoped that Madeline would be alright. He knew that despite not loving her, Arthur was probably worried about her as well. He gave the man a small smile, reaching over to squeeze his hand lightly before pulling his hand away, letting his fingers brush while doing so.

He didn't know how long it had been but it felt like hours.

Hours and hours.

Yet soon enough a nurse came, smiling at both of the princes.

"Princess Madeline has given birth to twins. A boy and a girl. You can both come in," She murmured in a hushed voice, urging them inside and Alfred soon hurried inside, heart thrumming in excitement. He...he was an uncle now.

And just looking at the children, he immediately felt attached. These two newborns were of his own blood. They looked so much like him actually with those bright blue eyes and lovely blonde hair. Alfred smiled fondly and Madeline looked up at Arthur and Alfred.

"Oh Arthur...Alfred... aren't they beautiful?" She asked, cradling her children to herself. "What should we name them?"

Madeline paused for a moment before urging Arthur closer.

"Come hold them."

[Mr. Kirkland]

Arthur was terrified that he might lose Madeline or the baby. If he did, then what would he do? Where would he be without them?

He looked across at Alfred, a tentative smile on his face as he looked at the other. At least he would always have Alfred, until they were found out, at least. He was quite astonished that no one had suspected them of anything yet, considering how much time they spent in the woods together.

But luckily the birth seemed to be a success as the screaming died down. Arthur was overwhelmed with relief until he heard about the birth.

“T… twins?” he stammered, looking shocked. A boy and a girl. He was the non-biological father of two infants. He was a father (sort of) now.

He was not as eager to enter as Alfred was, in total shock that there was more than one baby. He seemed unsure what to say as he saw Madeline clutching two small babies to her chest protectively. He wasn’t really sure what to do, either. He didn’t want to startle the babies.

“They’re…” he gulped, “lovely.” But he didn’t really know that. It was what he thought that she wanted him to say. But she was beckoning for him to come closer. She didn’t really want him to hold one, did she? What if he dropped it or didn’t hold it properly? He’d never forgive himself.

Stiffly, Arthur came closer and timidly held out his arms, ready to take one of the children from her.

“One at a time,” he murmured.

[Assistant Jones]

Madeline just smiled over at Arthur, chuckling a bit as she cradled the young girl up to her.

"Don't be so nervous, Arthur. Just relax. You won't drop him, I promise," She whispered softly, rather tired from everything.

Alfred just laughed a bit and he went to his sister, stroking her hair lightly and comfortingly before lightly grabbing the young girl's hand.

Madeline just closed her eyes in contentment. "Any names?" She asked lightly and Alfred's eyes lit up at that.

"How about Eleanore?" He asked with a bit of excitement before hesitating. "U-Uh...sorry 'bout that. Guess I got a bit excited."

It didn’t help Arthur’s nerves at all. He was still worried that he might drop or injure the child somehow. He took a deep breath and carefully fathered the infant in his arms, holding him closely.

But that was when Arthur’s initial worry melted away into total and utter affection for the small bundle in his arms. This was a living thing which Madeline had been carrying inside of her. It was strange to think about but… there he was. There they were. A boy and a girl, both of whom would now be considered his children, his offspring. And even though Arthur knew that he wasn’t the real father (he was unaware of who the father was, despite Alfred having noticed), he felt incredibly attached. He felt like all of his insides had gone mushy over the tiny baby.

He didn’t want to risk letting go of the baby to hug Madeline and simply whispered a gentle ‘congratulations’ and ‘well done’ to her, instead. Child birth was not for the faint hearted.

Arthur was busy touching the tiny fist of his ‘son’ when Alfred spoke up. He arched an eyebrow, looking at him for a few long moments.

“Eleanore… that’s… not a bad name, actually. Madeline, what do you think?” he wanted her approval before the final decision was made.

He perched on the edge of the bed, feeling more comfortable and less like he would drop the baby as he did so. He was just staring down at baby in awe. He could think of a name for the boy but... would they want to hear it?

[Assistant Jones]

Alfred just smiled and he lightly patted Arthur's back, trying to do it as a 'congratulatory' gesture while he actually mainly took it as an opportunity to lightly caress his back for a few seconds, reassuring and loving. Yet soon he pulled his hand away, still smiling down at the young child.

"He's beautiful," He murmured softly.

Madeline smiled a bit.

"I love the name Eleanore. Do you have any ideas for the boy, Arthur? ...I want you to name him," She whispered softly, looking rather tired and content.

She was happy and she knew that both Arthur and Alfred were happy also. Even if Arthur wasn't the real father...she knew that he would be a good father to them.

[Mr. Kirkland]

Arthur let out a long sigh, silently appreciative of Alfred’s touch. He just nodded in agreement before leaning down to press a gentle kiss to the child’s forehead, already feeling incredibly protective of him. He was sure that he would be exactly the same with Eleanore, too.

He looked up at Madeline and pursed his lips. She looked utterly exhausted, and he couldn’t blame her. Childbirth was no pleasant business.

“Um… well, I… I’ve always thought that William would be a good name for a strapping young lad,” he admitted. “It’s a strong name. It’d be a good name for a king.” He would be King William III of Albion, one day. Assuming that he was the older sibling, of course.

He was still in shock that there were twins.

[Assistant Jones]

Alfred just smiled a bit at that and he chuckled a bit.

"I like the name," He murmured thoughtfully and Madeline simply nodded.

"I love the name. King William III...what a lovely name," She murmured softly before soon reaching her arms out for William so she could hand Eleanore over to him.

"Hold Eleanore, Arthur. She wants her new father's touch just as much as William."

Alfred and Madeline knew that Arthur would be a good father...and Alfred felt so very proud despite everything.

[Mr. Kirkland]

Arthur looked relieved that his suggestion had been well received.

“William and Eleanore,” he said mindlessly, looking much too happy. They weren’t his. They would never be his real children… but they were just so precious and small. Arthur was extremely delicate as he handed William over to Madeline and took Eleanore, resting her carefully in his arms.

She was very pretty, even in her newborn state. She would be beautiful, Arthur could tell. Looking down at her, he made himself a promise. He would never force her into marriage. He would not make the same mistakes that the generation before him had done.

“Hello Eleanore,” he whispered to the infant, tenderly smiling down at her. He had been right about his feelings towards both of the babies as his heart swelled. He loved them, having merely seen them. Of course, he loved Alfred more but with them both having been in his arms so shortly after being born, he felt very close to them both.

[Assistant Jones]

Alfred still found it rather amazing that there were still two young children that were related to him. They looked so alike to him...it made him smile.

In a way, he also felt like a father considering that he was with Arthur and his own lover.

It was all so very confusing but he couldn't bring himself to care.

"They're beautiful.." He whispered, watching the babies as they slept. He wondered if Madeline's lover had already seen the babies yet. He imagined that he did.

"You'll both be amazing parents."

[Mr. Kirkland]

Arthur felt as though he wanted to kiss Alfred, but refrained from doing so. He could control himself until they were alone again. Everything was working out. It seemed as though they really could maintain a stable relationship together.

He just beamed up at Alfred, unable to keep affection from his gaze.

“Thank you, Alfred,” he said quietly. He looked back down to his ‘daughter’ sleeping in his arms and felt overwhelming emotions overcoming him. He nuzzled Eleanore tenderly, holding her close for a few moments but she started to stir and Arthur realised that it had probably not been the best idea. But before she could begin to fuss, a maid came into the room.

“The doctor said that Princess Madeline should rest,” she curtsied somewhat.

[Assistant Jones]

Alfred jumped a bit and soon he smiled slightly.

"Oh! Of course! Gotta let Madeline rest y'anno!" He chirped before smiling over at Arthur, affectionate in his smile.

"Come on, let's leave my sister to rest and we can play chess or something." He was only saying chess as a cover term. Even though they still played it at times. He was more adamant on being alone with the other.

He shot one last look at the children, fondness swelling up in his heart before finally heading out to the hallway and waiting for Arthur.

[Mr. Kirkland]

Arthur nodded and handed Eleanore into the arms of the maid before crossing over to Madeline. He bent down and pecked the side of her forehead with a small smile.

“Well done,” he said earnestly. He felt as though she deserved the congratulations at an audible level. “Should you need me, then just send for me, alright? I’ll come in the dead of night, if I must. Rest well, my dear,” he smiled at her one last time before turning and heading out of the room with Alfred.

He was now officially a father. And that was a very strange thought.

Arthur looked across to his lover shyly but soon a grin spread across his face. He jumped forwards and hugged Alfred, not really caring if anyone else saw (which they would considering it was a public place). He was happy. So, so happy. And a hug between friends was not at all suspicious.

“I’m a father,” he stated the obvious, like a loon.

[Assistant Jones]

Alfred barked out a laugh and he held Arthur close, glad to see that he was just so damned happy. It was one of the most satisfying thing he has seen in most of his years. Just to see his lover so happy.

He squeezed the other just a bit closer.

"Yeah you are. And you're gonna be a pretty damned good one," He whispered in promise, smiling widely.

He was happy for Arthur...he was happy for Madeline and himself. It was just...so amazing. So amazing to think that they finally had an heir, finally young children to love and adore and care for.

[Mr. Kirkland]

Arthur held on to him tightly, not wanting to let go – but he could see a guard watching them as he looked over Alfred’s shoulder and pulled away, his smile not fading.

“Come along, Prince. I feel that this calls for a celebratory game of chess,” which was certainly not what Arthur had in find for their upcoming activities. But he couldn’t really say it out loud. He patted Alfred on the shoulder and quickly began to lead the way towards Alfred’s room, able to identify the route with his eyes shut by this point.

[Assistant Jones]

Alfred just laughed at that, grinning widely at the other.

"Sounds like a game then," He murmured back, absolutely delighted with himself now. He really was happy. Extremely happy. There didn't seem like much that could actually ruin this.

After all, their secret was safe here so far and they had been so much more careful recently.

He soon headed towards his room, a bit happy in his step.

[Mr. Kirkland]

Arthur checked the corridor to see if anyone was around before he yanked Alfred into the room, crushing his lips up to his, still smiling like an idiot. He closed the door hastily, not letting go of Alfred before pushing the other back against the door (he hadn’t been particularly ‘assertive’ with Alfred just because he didn’t want to hurt him – but dominance like this was something that Arthur revelled in; he liked to watch Alfred squirm and writhe).

“I love you,” he said breathlessly before kissing him again.

[Assistant Jones]

Alfred couldn't help but grin back against Arthur's lips, absolutely livid and excited.

"I love you too," He whispered back before kissing Arthur back eagerly. He really did love this man. Loved him so much.

He was just so excited for him...just being with him.

"You'll be an amazing father. I can't wait to see them grow up..."

[Mr. Kirkland]

Arthur laughed good-naturedly against Alfred’s lips, pressing him further into the door as he began to trail kisses along his jaw.

“Thank you,” he felt ecstatic. He really couldn’t believe that things had turned out so well. He was a father, Madeline was happy, he and Alfred were happy and they weren’t going to be found out. He was high on life in that moment, wanting to make it all the more memorable with Alfred.

“Me too… William and Eleanore,” he said dizzily. “You’re an uncle, as well.” Alfred was also legitimately related to the children… a part of Arthur hoped that Alfred’s genetics would be visible so that he could just pretend for a little while that it was possible for him and Alfred to have had children.

“I’ll teach them about politics and fighting, and you can tell them about the world and how to survive,” he just kept kissing Alfred. “Long bed-time stories, lullabies, playing in the castle grounds…” the more that Arthur thought about it, the more excited he became to be the ‘father’ of the twins.

He smooched Alfred solidly on the lips as someone knocked at the door.

[Assistant Jones]

Alfred let himself be further pressed against the door, lifting his chin up so the other could trail kisses along his jaw.

"Mm...feels nice," He whispered in encouragement.

He couldn't imagine how anything could possibly go wrong now. Everything was just...just so damned perfect. He could be with his lover, they were all happy and they wanted to be with each other. They would teach the kids, love them and it would seem as if they could have their own children.

He hoped that the children would at least look like him a bit so that they could pretend that well...those were their children.

"It'll be perfect," He whispered and he was about to kiss back but soon he had to move his head to the side as someone knocked on the door. He lightly brought Arthur away from the door before peeking his head out.

"Yeah? Who is it?"

[Mr. Kirkland]

Arthur was disappointed that they had to pull away so suddenly. He tried to catch his breath, moving away from the door so that he wouldn’t be heard.

The messenger bowed to Alfred.

“The King of Albion requests his son’s presence immediately. There are urgent matters for him to attend to in his country.”

Arthur swore in the background.

“I assume that he is with you, your grace?”

[Assistant Jones]

Alfred frowned at that and he furrowed his eyebrows.

"Yeah...he's here with me," He murmured softly.

He really didn't have a good feeling about this. Though he soon looked over at Arthur with some concern.

"Are these matters really urgent? I mean, Prince Arthur and Princess Madeline just had their children."

[Mr. Kirkland]

Arthur stood quietly now, realising that he was being a little obnoxious for swearing in the background.

“I’m afraid that I’m merely a messenger, my prince,” the messenger bowed again. “The King of Albion requests his son and I would not refuse him, based on previous experiences of when the King has not, erm, ‘gotten his way’.” He looked nervous for putting it like that, but he couldn’t think of any other way to say it.

Arthur grunted and came forwards, opening the door.

“My father is aware of the birth?”

“Yes, the news was sent when the children were born. Congratulations, might I add,” the messenger bowed. Again. It was pissing Arthur off a bit.

“Yet he still wants me to go all the way back to Albion? The trip in itself will take me a fortnight.”

“I’m only a messenger.”

Arthur shut the door on his face and leaned back against the door, frowning at the floor.
