Arthur remained still for a moment before taking Alfred’s hand between both of his and shuffling over until they were flush up against each other. Alfred had said that it would be all right… so he’d just have to trust Alfred when he said he’d be okay, and be as gentle as possible. He settled against Alfred’s warmth to watch the movie for a while, but it was somewhat ridiculous – dinosaurs running riot in modern times? – and he began to feel a bit… bored.

He glanced up at Alfred’s face and saw his boyfriend squinting at the screen – oh yes; the poor lad needed glasses now, another bad outcome of taking that case with Arthur. He reached up a hand and stroked it across Alfred’s cheek gently. Would it be better to drop Alfred as a partner to prevent him from being hurt again? Of course injuries were a part of their job, but… Surely no one had that much happen to them when working with a normal partner.

“Alfred,” he breathed, pulling his feet up onto the couch and shifting so that he was kneeling next to Alfred, “Alfred, I want… I want to kiss you.” As he said it, he leaned in and lightly brushed his lips against Alfred’s. No. He couldn’t give Alfred up, not unless Alfred was the one who wanted to leave. He couldn’t imagine kissing anyone else and getting those same warm sparks starting up inside him. It had to be Alfred.

Alfred felt much more comfortable with Arthur's body lines closely next to his. It was more of what he had come to be used to and he liked it much better without a cold gap between them. He could sit there and enjoy his movie now. That is except for that fact that he had to squint to see the screen. It was making his eyes sting and he had to bring one hand up to rub at them and shield them on more then one occasion.

At the touch to his cheek his turns his head, Arthur is much easier on the eyes even if he can't see the full details of his face at the moment. He can feel the other officer's breath on his lips though when he speaks and that alone sends a chill up his back. "Told ya, you didn't have to ask." He replies closing the space between them and connecting their lips together lightly.

Alfred loves kissing Arthur, knowing that those are the only lips for him. That those are the only ones he's ever tasted and ever wants to. Just like that, his attention is taken away from the dinosaurs on the screen and is fully on Arthur.

Arthur slowly deepened the kiss slightly, bringing his hands up to rest them on Alfred's shoulders. He tried his best to go slowly, as slowly as he knew how, and gradually moved one arm until it was looped around Alfred's neck so that he could play with the fine hairs at the nape of Alfred's neck. Normally this would have been the point at which Arthur would scramble up and straddle Alfred's legs, but he knew that Alfred would not appreciate being towered over in his state.

Instead, he slowly and gently coaxed Alfred down until the American was hovering above him on all fours. This was fine. He trusted Alfred, and knew that Alfred was not angry and would never hurt him. His legs subconsciously hooked around Alfred's and he arched up to kiss the man he loved once again, trying convey all his love and trust in that single kiss.

Alfred twists in his position so that he can wrap his arms around Arthur's lower back, grasping onto the material of his shirt. He hums happily into the kiss, making a low happy sound. He is relieved that things can still be normal with Arthur but is glad when the other doesn't climb on top of him. He doesn't want anything weighing him down for awhile.

So he welcomes being pulled down over Arthur, moving so that he can prop himself up with his hands and get both legs onto the couch. He meets Arthur down halfway into their second kiss, turning his head so that their lips meet at just the perfect angle. He makes sure that he kisses back wanting but gentle. He doesn't want to rush for a number of reasons and now seems like a nice time for being loving.

He shifts his weight onto one hand while using the other to run down Arthur's chest just lightly, mapping out his boyfriend's body under him.

Arthur arched up slightly into Alfred’s touch, making small, contented sounds in the back of his throat. Their kiss never became too deep or sloppy, but that was fine. This was all he needed, to be able to hold Alfred and gaze up at him and feel like he was loved and wanted. He let one hand trail lightly down one of Alfred’s arms, stroking the tanned skin.

They broke their kiss to gasp for air and Arthur smiled up at Alfred as he stretched languidly, his shirt riding up to expose his pale stomach. He felt relaxed and happy, barely registering the sounds of the film playing in the background. It was as if his entire world had shrunk down to only Alfred, leaning over him, gazing down at him, loving and kissing him.

“Alfred,” he breathed in a soft, happy sigh. “Alfred.” He took one of Alfred’s hands and allowed his hand to be pinned down like last time, knowing that Alfred would never do anything to hurt him. He could trust himself, his entire body and soul, to Alfred, and know that everything would be all right. His other hand began playing with Alfred’s sleeve as he leaned up again, wanting another kiss.

When they finally pulled apart Alfred couldn't have looked more relieved. It was as it everything that hadn't or had happened didn't matter because they were there now with each other.

Alfred's hand rested near the ride up of Arthur's shirt and he slipped his hand under the fabric slightly, rubbing circles were ever he found his fingers. His other hand lacing together fingers with one of Arthur's hands. 'Arthur.." He says back slowly drawing out each sounds in the name and when it ends his lips are already at Arthur's again.

He kisses him again and feels almost giddy suddenly, smiling into it and surely he is the luckiest guy in the world to feel so much love. Finally he lets his head fall forwards onto Arthur's collarbone to rest there. His own chest moving with a bit of laughter before it slows down with a sigh. He is comfortable.

Arthur smiled and sighed softly in pleasure when Alfred’s hand began rubbing small circles on the pale skin of his stomach. He kissed back softly but desperately. The depth of his emotions for Alfred was frightening, especially since they’d been strangers but a week ago. But he couldn’t imagine being in the arms of anyone else, not anymore.

They lay together on the couch, fully clothed, but to Arthur it felt closer than any sex he’d had in the past. He stroked a hand lightly down Alfred’s back as they pretended to watch the end of the movie, when in actual fact they were only watching each other. When the credits finally began to play, Arthur buried his face in the crook of Alfred’s neck and inhaled softly, not wanting to move or turn the television off.

The sun was setting outside, painting the sky varying shades of red and orange. Arthur slid both of his arms around Alfred’s neck and smiled sweetly, leaning up to kiss the very tip of his nose. “I almost wish we could stay here, like this, forever,” he whispered, flushing at his sappy words. But it was true. He’d give almost anything to stay with Alfred forever.

Alfred takes a long time to respond, just laying there comfortably with his hands digging into the cushions of the couch so that he could have them around Arthur, his head either against Arthur's chest to hear his heartbeat or touching foreheads with the other boy, and his legs intertwined with Arthur's as well. He didn't want to move either but it was still too early too fall asleep for the night.

Alfred could hear the buzz of the TV screen as the movie finished playing and is only the slightly disappointed at not being able to watch all of it. Besides he'd seen it many times before and Arthur was well worth watching more.

"We can always do this again later." Alfred speaks up hopefully almost. "Or do you want me to be all over you during dinner too?" He chuckles to himself, chest reverberating the sound and his entire body tingles with the feeling. Not long after Alfred is sighing, sagging down against Arthur one last time before picking himself up and pulling Arthur into a sitting position again as well. "Speaking of dinner, what are we going to do about that? All the stuff we bought is at my place and unless you want to go out again?" Alfred leaves the question opening to see what Arthur would prefer doing.

No matter how hard Arthur willed it, the prominent flush across his cheeks refused to fade. As Alfred dragged him into an upright position, Arthur clung to him and buried his face against Alfred’s chest. “No,” he mumbled, “I don’t want to go out.” Sure, he had plenty to spend but they’d been eating out an awful lot lately and if he didn’t start taking care of his finances, soon he’d have nothing left. And besides, eating at home with one’s significant other… there wasn’t much that could beat that.

He reluctantly climbed from the warmth and safety of Alfred’s arms to check his refrigerator and freezer for anything edible. The refrigerator was full of leftovers that would have to be thrown out, but he found some frozen dinners in the freezer. “Are these all right?” he asked apologetically, holding them up for Alfred to see. “I’m sorry, I… don’t have much to offer you right now.” In respect to more than just food, a small voice inside of him piped up, but he quashed it immediately. Tonight would be a good night. They would enjoy each other’s company. They’d have fun, and then Alfred could decide whether he wanted to stay or leave.

Arthur peered mournfully into his refrigerator one last time. It was a shame that he didn’t have more food stocked away, but he tended to skip meals so it was understandable that there wasn’t much. After all, what was the point in trying to cook if you were only going to have a lonely dinner by yourself? It was better to go straight to bed. Maybe he needed a pet. A cat, maybe? But no, he had Alfred now. He wasn’t lonely anymore, not when he had Alfred.

Alfred pads after him into the kitchen taking in the little things there as well. The well used looking tea kettle and just the neatness of it all. It even smelled a bit like Arthur.

"Those are fine." Alfred says with a smile. "Anything's good as long as we can eat together at your house." He leans over and steals a quick kiss from Arthur before leaning onto the counter. It was true, Alfred prized a little home meal together then getting dressed and going out and being all formal. This way they could be more comfortable, in their pajamas, sharing a blanket, feeding each other. A blush crosses Alfred's face and he gulps hoping that Arthur didn't catch the look on his face.

Arthur quietly returned the kiss and set about stripping the plastic plates out of their cardboard boxes. He made sure to pierce the plastic film on top with a fork since he really didn’t need anything exploding in his microwave tonight, and it would be embarrassing if that happened in front of Alfred. Last time that had happened, it had taken him nearly two hours to clean all of the gravy and food chunks from the inside of his microwave.

The frozen dinners were ready quite quickly and Arthur carried the hot plates back over to the coffee table in front of the couch. Usually he ate at the kitchen counter, but he was eating with Alfred, and he wanted to be close to Alfred. “Which one would you prefer?” he asked, peeling back the plastic films and hissing as he gave himself a steam burn. “There’s chicken parmigiana or roast beef.”

Alfred waited patiently. There weren't many thing he was patient for and food was most definitely not one of them usually but this was worth it he knew. He trudged back over to the couch when the microwave beeped and settled back into the cushions.

"Be careful!" Alfred says when he see's Arthur nearly burn himself. He glances between the two plates with a amused smile on his face. "I'll take the roast beef, since I have no idea what the chicken thing is you said."

Alfred starts to pull the plate over to him but thinks better and simply scoots closer to the middle of the couch to assure himself a spot wedged next to Arthur. "So shall we watch our second movie while we eat or wait?" He asks rubbing his hands together and eyeing his food. It was a frozen dinner, but it had came from Arthur's fridge and cooked in Arthur's microwave and given to him by Arthur and he wouldn't trade it even for a whole box of burgers.

He hesitates a bit before he digs in though, suddenly glancing to the side almost shyly. "Um..thanks sweetheart."

Arthur shrugged and went to fetch drinks and eating utensils before popping the film into the player. The Grudge was supposed to be an especially scary horror, and he watched the screen, bored, as it began. He turned to Alfred as he heard the American speak though, and froze at what he heard. S-sweetheart? Arthur beamed at him and stuttered as his face flushed. “Y-you’re welcome…darling.”

He settled back with his frozen dinner and began eating, leaning lightly against Alfred’s shoulder. His boyfriend had dealt with touching quite well earlier, but Arthur still didn’t want to risk anything. He’d let Alfred make the first moves and establish boundaries. After a moment of eating quietly, Arthur paused and held his fork up, a piece of chicken on the end of it. “If you haven’t had it before, do you want to try some?” he asked, blushing.

This was ridiculous. He was a grown man, a police officer, and he was blushing everywhere during a quiet night in with his boyfriend. Arthur bit his lip and extended the fork towards Alfred’s lips. “It’s actually quite good. Here, have a taste.”

Alfred hesitantly watched the screen as the movie began to play. Okay, he could do this. Just some pictures on a screen, nothing to worry about. He found himself leaning back on Arthur in an attempt to be cuddly as well as for comfort as the movie proceeded to play. He tired his best to not start shaking and kept his eyes down at his food as he continued to eat.

He only looks up when Arthur addresses him. He peeks up to find Arthur holding out his fork to him and Alfred can't help but feel a little thankful for the distraction. Alfred opens his mouth and gently puts his lips around the fork taking the bite while keeping his eyes on Arthur to avoid any thoughts about the movie playing just out of the corner of his sight. He pulls away chewing and after a moment nods. "It's good." He says before fumbling with his own fork and taking a bit of his own dinner. "D-do you want some of mine too?" He offers clumsily. His hand is shaking slightly sending the vibrations down his fork and it shows and for a moment he almost retracts his offer. He must look silly and young and lame, he thinks.

That was strange. Alfred was obviously shaking, and Arthur's first thought was that he was nervous and afraid of being alone with Arthur. But no, that couldn't have been right, they'd been alone together all of last night and most of today, not to mention all the time they'd spent undercover, and Alfred hadn't trembled like this. "Are you... All right?" he asked anxiously, obediently leaning forward and taking the bite of beef from his boyfriend's fork.

It wasn't until until there was a scream from the movie and Alfred stiffened and jerked clumsily in his seat that Arthur realised what was going on. Was Alfred... Afraid of the film? But that didn't make sense... They'd gone to see a horror at the drive-in, too. Arthur suddenly remembered what they'd been doing for the duration of the film and his cheeks flushed. Of course Alfred wouldn't have been afraid if he'd been busy snogging Arthur!

"Do you want to watch something else?" he suggested, unable to hide his disappointment. It had actually looked like a decent horror film, and Arthur had been looking forward to seeing how good it really was. Ah well. He set his now-empty plate down on the coffee table and laced his fingers with Alfred's. Maybe they could go back to doing what they'd sone earlier.

"I'm f-fine!" Alfred replies instantly, gathering himself up against the back of the couch with a pillow pulled into his lap for some sort of imaginary protection. He sticks closely to Arthur's side, trying to keep from doing something more embarrassing then he already was. Gosh, he felt so stupid.

Alfred felt Arthur's hand slip into his and he pulled away at first but quickly grasp onto it tightly as something jumps on the screen. His dinner is left on the table forgotten although he had ate most of it before his fit of fear kicked in.

"No! This is okay!" Alfred responds, speaking a bit overly loud to compensate for the trembling in his voice. "Let's keep watching, yeah?!"

Arthur hid a grin. Alfred was too adorable! The American was tall, broad-shouldered and ridiculously muscular, so it was just a little bit funny that he harboured such a fear. "Are you sure?" he asked, trying to keep a straight face. It wouldn't be nice to laugh. Instead he cuddled closely against Alfred's side and wrapped his arms around his boyfriend protectively.

The movie itself, while well made and probably very scary to most people, didn't particularly bother Arthur. After having so many fairy, ghost and monster friends as a child, he found the film very sad rather than disturbing. It seemed to be disturbing Alfred though, so he leaned over and kissed him sweetly on the cheek.

"How are you holding up, darling?" he asked against Alfred's skin. "You sure you want to keep watching?"

"I'm sure!" Alfred insisted once again and as Arthur came closer he turning on his side and threw his own arms around him, hiding half of his face in Arthur's shoulder. Between the change of position and the kiss to the cheek Alfred's shaking calmed a little but he was still rather frightened. He doesn't look away from the screen though, only wincing every now and then.

"I'm doing great!" Alfred says obviously lying as he curled up a little more into Arthur's side. He could finish one silly movie without chickening out. For goodness sake, he was a grown man at his boyfriends house. This was not the time to be acting so uncool. He should be suavely holding his boyfriend and protecting him from the fake monsters..not cowering into his shoulder. Alfred wanted to bury his face at that thought alone, not to mention the haunting music from the tv.

Arthur watched the movie for a while longer but found that he didn't want to watch it anymore. It was too sad. It was almost upsetting to know that people derived entertainment from tragedies like that. Perhaps he was being overly sensitive, but for a long time, these sorts of creatures had been his only friends. He buried his face into Alfred's shirt as the silly humans continued screaming shrilly. How... Callous of them.

After a moment, it registered that Alfred was still shaking. Arthur leaned up and ran his lips along Alfred's jaw, blindly questing for his lips. It seemed that both of them needed some comfort, though for different reasons. Arthur brushed his lips across Alfred's and cuddled into him as closely as he dared to.

Alfred had almost though that he was beginning to get rather successful at blocking out the sound of the movie when he felt lips against the side of his face. He turns his head to catch them against his own lips and that drowns out sound better then any other distraction ever could. He could feel Arthur's heart heat somehow through his lips and he kissed him back with full force.

Alfred just didn't know what else to do so he kept his lips glued to Arthur's and clung to him until he needed breath and barely even then did he pull back. He looked across at Arthur's eyes for a moment as if asking that everything was going to be okay but not saying anything out loud.

Arthur let out a tiny sigh and leaned his head against Alfred's chest, pressing a soft kiss to the dip between the American's collarbones. Alfred's arms were warm and secure around him and he clung tightly in response. The film ended soon enough, though Arthur felt his boyfriend shudder one final time at the closing scene. They say still on the couch, still cuddled together, while the credits rolled. Outside, the sky had turned dark and a streetlamp was flickering eerily outside of the window.

"I, er... Suppose that's it," Arthur mumbled awkwardly, slowly and reluctantly untangling himself from the larger blond. He turned off the television and cleared away his plate. "Are you, um, done with that?" he asked, gesturing to Alfred's forgotten food.

It wasn't that it was awkward to be alone with Alfred now. It was more like... Did Alfred want to stay over? Or would he just do it out of politeness? Maybe he'd only cuddled because he was frightened, and now that the movie was over he'd proclaim just how boring Arthur was and walk away? Arthur fiddled with the hem of his shirt. He'd have to ask eventually, so why not now? "W-would you like to stay the night?" he asked in a tiny voice, staring at his feet. "I mean, you don't have to... I know there's not much here and it's kind of boring, but..." he trailed off uncertainly, trying to appear casual but unable to hide his anxiety.

Alfred reluctantly released Arthur as he pulled away when the movie was over. He didn't want to let go of him but he knew that Arthur probably wanted some space after the few hours they had sat there. He nodded at the question. He had lost his appetite somewhere during the time of the movie, which was a large feat even for him.

Alfred let Arthur clear away the trash and huddling himself into the corner of the couch as if that was the safest place at the moment. He tugged at a blanket that was hung, neatly folded over the back of the couch and pulled it around himself suddenly feeling cold now that Arthur wasn't next to him and oh god what if it was ghosts making the temperature drop!

He watched Arthur stand there tempted to pull him back down with him. Hearing the question though Alfred made a face like the answer was rather obvious. "That was the plan wasn't it?" He says glancing around for his bag that he had brought in what seemed like ages ago. He had been hoping to stay the night and that still hadn't changed. After all, he wouldn't dare say out loud, he wasn't going to drive home this late in the dark, who knows what kind of creepy dead girls he could run into. That thought made him wriggling in his seat and he suppressed a whimper.

"W-well, yes," Arthur said quickly, "that was the plan..." But now you've had time to change your mind he wanted to add. But no, it seemed as if Alfred still wanted to stay over and Arthur breathed a sigh of relief. Alfred still wanted to be here. "Okay," he said quietly, flicking off the living room lights. He cross the room to where his boyfriend was huddled on the couch and gently tugged him to his feet before leading him into the bedroom with a small blush on his face.

The bedroom was just as boring and empty as the rest of the flat. An empty vase had been shoved against the wall by a pile of precariously-perched books and a small briefcase rested against the bedside table, but other than that there weren't really any signs of someone living here. There'd been no point in decorating and he wasn't sure what to decorate with anyway. "Here are your things," he pointed out as he set the bag onto the end of the bed.

"Oh, you must be wanting a shower," Arthur noted suddenly, cursing himself for his inattentiveness. Of course Alfred would want a shower! He rushed to pull out a soft green towel from one of the cupboards and held it out to his boyfriend.

Alfred covered his mouth at the tiy squeak that tried to escape his mouth as the lights flickered off and when Arthur came back over Alfred gladly leaped up and clung to his boyfriend, dragging the blanket along with him.

Inside the bedroom Alfred looks around finding it is just like the rest of the house. He finds himself rather fond of it, if only because it's Arthur's. Then it hits him. He is in Arthur's bedroom, his boyfriend's bedroom..oh god. He inadvertently clings closer to Arthur barely hearing whatever he is saying until a towel is held out at him. He takes is carefully, looking down at it for a moment. What was he supposed to do with this?..oh a shower!

"Do I..really need-" Alfred stops himself. That sounded a little nasty, of course he needed shower but.." I mean, um.." Alfred just couldn't seem to find the words at express what he was thinking. He didn't want to leave Arthur's side and the embarrassment of admitting that coupled with the fact that his boyfriend was offering him to use his shower he didn't know what to do.

Arthur frowned as he tried to make sense of what Alfred was saying. "You haven't showered since last night," he pointed out, confused. "Don't you... Want to shower?" His boyfriend was still clinging to him tightly and he ran a hand through Alfred's hair. Oh. Alfred was still trembling, of course he wouldn't want to be alone in a strange environment!

"Er... Well, I can sit in there with you, if you like," he suggested after a moment, cheeks flushed. "N-not like... that. I don't mean... Showering together. You can pull the curtain and shower and I'll just sit in there somewhere, so that you know that I'm nearby. D-does that work?" As he spoke, they made their way into the little bathroom.

He'd probably just sit there and entertain fantasies of being in there with Alfred, washing his hair and scrubbing his back for him, but oh well. They weren't ready for that yet, were they?Besides... Arthur's body wasn't completely unblemished, and who knew what Alfred would think once he caught sight of those scars.
