He tried to look directly at Matthew while speaking. Arthur needed to convince Matthew that he was worthy of Alfred, even if he really wasn’t. But they’d gotten together in the space of a week and were co-workers… there was no way that Matthew would approve, was there? He re-seated himself with a small wince, both loving and hating that pain at the same time. “So, what brings you to town, other than visiting your brother, of course?” he asked politely.

Arthur didn’t want to spoil family reunion time. From the looks of it, Alfred and Matthew got on very well indeed, unlike the relationship Arthur had with his own brothers. Watching them interact made him feel strangely conflicted. On one hand, it was nice to see brothers who got along with one another, but… he couldn’t deny that he was jealous. Why had his brothers hated him so much? Why couldn’t he have had a brother who would make an effort to bond with him?

Alfred looked nearly horrified but Matthew seemed to be far calmer.

"How did you...when?" Alfred stuttered looking at his brother with wide eyes coming close to the verge of panic but this doesn't seem to phase Matthew.

"The way you look at him. It's the same look you used to give the cheerleaders at school." Matthew explains before giving an awkward cough and glancing to the side. "Plus, Arthur sort of came out of the bedroom and he's not.. completely dressed properly..." Matthew said as his shyness kicked in. "And..and Alfred would sooner be..I mean. Love another man before..before he would simply sleep around."

Alfred's panic dies down at his brothers talking and he gives him a smile and a sigh before turning to Arthur and finally taking his hands tightly. "Yeah, you got it right. Arthur is..my boyfriend and I didn't mean for you to meet like this but I really want you two to get along."

N-not completely dressed properly?! But...! Arthur glanced down at himself. Oh... The shirt he'd randomly picked was obviously Alfred's. Not only was it far too large for him and threatening to slip off his shoulder, it was also emblazoned with an American flag. He blushed deeper and tried to tug the shirt back onto his shoulder, but only managed to expose his other pale shoulder. "I'm sorry, I should have paid more attention when dressing," he said apologetically. "I hope I haven't made you uncomfortable."

He gripped Alfred's hands back and thought about Matthew's words. Alfred... Had looked at girls the same way that he now looked at Arthur? But he wasn't anywhere near as attractive as the cheerleader-types... It was true though, Alfred wasn't the kind to sleep around. Not like Arthur had been. He but his lip and tried to force those thoughts away. Alfred loved him. Despite being used and scarred, Alfred loved him. Even Alfred's brother thought so.

"Thank you," Arthur said softly, turning to Matthew. "I'm very glad to meet you. I hope that I can get to know you better while you're here."

Alfred gave a loud echoing laugh suddenly that reverberated around the small apartment. Now that everything was revealed Alfred felt his earlier tension melt away in favor of his usual cheery attitude. He slapped Arthur on the back and gave that shining grin to his brother. "Ah, don't worry Arthur, Matthew here doesn't get incomfortable very easily. He's used to putting up with me after all."

Matthew was glad to see his brother in his usual brightness although it definitely was his usual blockheadedness as well. He gave Arthur an almost apologetic smile as if to say 'That's Alfred. I'm sure you know by now'. "I'm sure we'll get along fine. You seem very nice." Is what he says out loud though.

"So, who wants breakfast!" Alfred interrupts, standing suddenly and glancing towards the kitchen as his stomach rumblings slightly. Nothing like a surprise visit from you sibling nearly catching you sleeping with your boyfriend to make a man hungry, right?

"A-Ah, I can help if you want." Matthew speaks up raising his hand slightly as if still in school asking a question.
