Alfred just nodded a bit, swallowing as he smiled over at Arthur. "You don't have to take care of me...you know. I feel a bit bad." He mentioned. He appreciated it, definitely, but he didn't want Arthur to bother himself to try making him feel better overall.

Though he gratefully still accepted the other's actions and he soon got comfortable once more, stretching out. He was trying to act like how he usually was, happy and smiling, but it was just hard. Especially when the smiles never seemed to really reach his usually bright blue eyes.

He was worried that Arthur was going to burn the burger but from what he could smell so far...it smelled amazing. Absolutely amazing.

He could also hear Arthur adding in a lot of ketchup...which would at least disguise the taste of burnt meat if it was burnt at all.

Though honestly, he would probably never be able to tell it to Arthur's face that he might need to improve on his cooking. He enjoyed it enough (which was rather odd actually). He had began drifting off but soon he rubbed his eyes, looking up at Arthur with a small smile. "You don't have to silly..." He mumbled tiredly but he nodded.

"But thanks." He added on as he soon looked at the food. It looked good at least (surprisingly). He soon began to eat the hamburger. "Thanks for the food, darling!" He called out, eating more of it. He was really hungry and he just needed to fill that empty pit in his stomach.

Arthur shrugged flippantly. “I wouldn’t do it if I felt that you had the capacity to do so yourself,” he explained as he re-emerged from the bedroom, holding some lose-fitting clothes for Alfred to change into. “The hot water’s started to be a bit dodgy, by the way,” he warned. “I think we’ll have to get someone to come and look at the boiler.”

He ruffled Alfred’s hair as he walked past him, placing the clean clothes in the bathroom for him. He soon returned to him, perching on the arm of the sofa.

“You’re welcome,” he smiled pleasantly enough. “I expect to be reinvested for all of this kindness with your lovely bum, at some point.” He began to smirk.

Alfred just smiled back at Arthur, groaning as he finished the rest of his hamburger before standing up to grab the clothes. Looking at them for a moment, he just hummed before already taking off the jacket and going over to the bedroom closet to hang it up before he began to work on his other clothes. He really didn't care about nudity in front of Arthur anymore.

He reddened though at Arthur's idea of 'payback' and he just huffed, rolling his eyes though he still continued on grinning.

"Why am I not surprised? That always seems to satisfy you, huh?" He questioned with amusement as he soon headed towards the bathroom.

"Alright, I'll call them up later."

“Always,” Arthur agreed. Although, at times, he couldn’t help but feel that he would much prefer a good old book and a cup of tea rather than being given the chance to sodomise Alfred. However, the latter was definitely something that Arthur would never refuse.

“Don’t worry about it for today. Just relax. You’ve not been home for three weeks,” he reminded gently. Alfred’s nudity didn’t bother Arthur as much as it had used to; he’d used to become flustered and force himself to look away whereas now Arthur would either openly stare or just plain ignore it. It was well within their comfort zone.

Whilst Alfred was in the bathroom, showering, he couldn’t help but let curiosity get the better of him. He went to inspect the bomber jacket in the closet. He couldn’t help but tut at some of the fraying threads and the dust. It looked like there wasn’t much that he could do to restore it to its former glory (because, Arthur was sure that, at the time, it must have been pretty spectacular). He could offer to re-sew some of it for Alfred but… he wasn’t entirely sure that it’d be worth it. Hopefully Alfred wouldn’t get too attached to it and start wearing it all the time.

Arthur grabbed his book from the sitting room and headed back into the bedroom. He collapsed on to the bed with his book, glad for the softness it provided after a week of sleeping on the sofa. The began to read again.

Alfred took a long shower, longer than what he usually took (which was actually rather long surprisingly) before he finally came out with just a towel wrapped around his waist. He let out a small yawn, rubbing his eyes tiredly while he groaned softy.

"I can't believe I'm still so tired and it's still just midday." He mumbled. "That's alright though. At least it's the weekend." He rationalised to himself as he went over onto his side of the bed but not without pulling on some boxers first. With that, he decided to rest his head against Arthur, pressing a light kiss against any skin he could find.

"I missed you." He murmured, lightly trailing his finger down the other's arm. He really wasn't in the mood to go any farther (though it was perfectly rational).

Soon he closed his eyes, simply just dazing off a bit.

Arthur watched silently as his boyfriend came into the room, eyeing the few droplets of water still on his skin with fascination at first… and then in irritation as Alfred cuddled up to him. He merely rolled his eyes, mentally forgiving him, having caught a glimpse of his penis as he’d put on his boxers. That was enough to keep Arthur happy, at least. He realised with some resentment that it made him even more of a pervert than he might have once thought. At the age of fifteen, wanking over various pop stars (Jon Lennon in particular), he would have never imagined that he’d be blessed with seeing so much flesh so regularly.

Ah, well. You only live once.

“Hmm,” he hummed in agreement with the American, adjusting his position so that Alfred could lie on him comfortably (and so that he wouldn’t crush any of Arthur’s vital organs). He looked at him carefully, slowly beginning to smile.

“And I you, as well,” he admitted softly. He leaned over and pressed a gentle kiss to the top of his head.

He settled down for a long session of reading so that Alfred could catch up on some sleep.

Alfred didn't really notice just what Arthur had caught a glimpse of but he really didn't care. After all, they were lovers and it wasn't as if there was anything that the other hadn't seen yet. So with a small smile, he just cuddled up against him as he became more comfortable. Alfred, when he was younger, had beaten it off quite a few times (just as natural tendency got him to do) but his images had always been of any kind of fantasy he could muster up, never anything that specific. But at least he didn't have to resort to that often, now that he had Arthur.

He just smiled over at the other, relaxing as the gentle kiss was pressed to the top of his head. Soon enough he closed his eyes, allowing himself to begin drifting off to sleep.

"Mm..."

Post by Mr. Kirkland Fri Apr 20, 2012 10:45 am

Arthur had soon found himself drifting off to sleep, along side Alfred some few hours after Alfred had done; his book had ended up somewhere on the floor. When he awoke the next day, he was somewhat confused to find that Alfred’s head had worked its way on to his stomach and that Arthur, somehow, had ended up the other way up on the bed, close to Alfred’s feet. Perhaps he’d moved to be comfortable during the night? Christ knew.

With a heavy sigh, he wriggled away from Alfred, with a glance at his watch to see that it was incredibly early in the morning. He sat up at the top of the bed, tentatively patting Alfred’s head and stroking his hair. But he couldn’t stop staring at the wardrobe. He was extremely aware that Alfred’s jacket was in there…

Before he knew what he was doing, Arthur had gotten up and was standing in front of the wardrobe; his hand was on the handle. He couldn’t bring himself to open it again, reminding himself that Alfred might wake up whilst he was doing it. He groaned quietly at the early hour, no longer feeling tired (although he felt incredibly uncomfortable in the clothes that he was wearing, having slept in them). He promptly took to stripping himself and began to search for clean clothes whilst Alfred was still asleep.

Alfred woke up a good ten minutes later, stirring from all of the movement that was going around the room. He had a good sleep and he was a clinger when he slept so it really was no surprise that they ended up in such an awkward position in the end. Yawning softly, he rubbed his eyes as he glanced over at Arthur with tired eyes. Looking back at the clock, he deemed the time to be way too early for him to even be awake. So with a sigh, he tugged the covers more over himself.

"Mm...why are you awake so early?" He asked with a small yawn, cuddling more into the remaining warmth of the bed.

Arthur jolted as Alfred spoke up, tripping over the trousers that he had been pulling on from the sudden noise. He swore profusely and glowered up at Alfred, a hand clutched to his chest.

“You scared the shit out of me!” he tried to recollect himself and wiggled all of the way into his trousers. “Fuck… um, no. It’s because I fell asleep a bit after you and, well, it has been about twelve hours since I’ve been asleep… so, I woke up. Not all of us have been driving for obscene amounts of time, you know.”

He stood up, giving his trousers one final tug upwards as he zipped up the front. He reached for his shirt and hesitated for a moment. He glanced at Alfred before breathing out a sigh, placing the shirt back in its place before climbing on to the bed.

“You’ve been asleep for far too long anyway, my lovely. You should get up, too,” he leaned down, kissing the side of Alfred’s head. “You won’t be able to function today, otherwise.”

Alfred just tried to blink the sleep out of his eyes though he rubbed them, still rather tired. He couldn't help but laugh a bit at that. "Mm...you're easy to scare." He teased lightly, a fond smile on his lips as he watched him from the bed.

He licked his lips a bit before nodding in understanding. "Yeah, no worries." He commented lightly, suppressing a large yawn. Though when he heard Arthur talking about being asleep for far too long, Alfred just let out a loud groan and buried his face against the pillow.

"Mm...no...! It's still too early and I don't wanna function today." He admitted, trying to keep the warmth from the pillow, the bed and the blanket.

He really, really didn't want to leave.

"I can sleep more."

“Alfred, you’ve been asleep for about fifteen hours.” And Arthur was pretty certain that, that wasn’t healthy. He rubbed his boyfriend’s back, trying to be soothing although he was pretty sure that he was just being awkward and unhelpful. “Over-sleeping isn’t good for you,” he stated.

Arthur seated himself comfortably on the bed to ensure that should Alfred lash out in his sleepy haze, that he wouldn’t be catapulted off of the bed. He kissed the shell of Alfred’s ear (or what he could reach of it).

“Come on, we’ll have some coffee and you’ll feel right as rain.”

Alfred just groaned a bit before sighing, accepting the kiss on the shell of his ear before finally sitting up slowly. "Mm...okay." He mumbled, his hair a mess and eyes still at half mast. "So pushy..." He was a very scheduled sleeper usually and so having being waken up earlier than he usually woke up (though he also slept earlier) really messed with his sleeping schedule.

With another yawn, he stood up from the bed before sighing and falling back on the bed, just lazing off on the mattress.

"Get the coffee..." He yawned out.

Arthur hummed in amusement, watching his boyfriend. He would have kissed him again, had he felt that the American would kiss back. But he was much too tired, wasn’t he? He climbed off of the bed and grabbed his t-shirt again, pulling it on over his head as he left the room.

Your breath is sweet; your eyes are like two jewels in the sky,” he sung softly as he prepared the coffee. “Your back is straight; your hair is smooth on the pillow where you lie…” he glanced back at the bedroom door. “But I don't sense affection, no gratitude or love. Your loyalty is not to me but to the stars above.”

He made himself some tea to bring back into the bedroom whilst Alfred had coffee.

One more cup of coffee,” he was still singing as he returned to Alfred, coffee in hand, “for the road… one more cup of coffee before I go… to the valley below…

Arthur placed the coffee on the bedside table next to Alfred, continuing to hum as he went back to his side of the bed, where he sat to sip at his tea.

Alfred was a bit surprised when he heard the song and he couldn't help but smile. Arthur always had a lovely voice and it always placed him at ease. Sweet, lovely ease. He really did have a way with his voice and he knew just how to use it to relax every muscle in Alfred's whole body. He just quietly watched from the bedroom, no matter how hard it was to see the other in the kitchen from there.

Already he could smell the scent of coffee beans and it relaxed him even more so. He could already taste the coffee and unsurprisingly enough, the taste of Arthur's tongue mixed with that coffee. It was a taste he could never forget.

He hummed along with the song, voice low as he closed his eyes and just simply imagined.

Soon Arthur came back into the room and he got up, grudgingly, before looking at the cup. With a soft sigh, he smiled over at Arthur. "Thank you, Arthur. I really appreciate it." He murmured.

Grabbing the cup, he took a small whiff, letting the scent relax him before finally taking a sip.

“You’re welcome,” Arthur shrugged flippantly. “I hope that it helps,” he mumbled into the rim of his mug. He let out a puff of air, enjoying the vapour of the hot tea. It was incredibly early, too early for there to be anything on the telly and too early to go out. He could think of a couple of ways they could entertain themselves, however. He just wasn’t sure if Alfred would want him to jump him at that moment, lest he thought that the only reason Arthur had woken him up was to have sex. Which wasn’t true, although it was a thought that had crossed Arthur’s mind.

He’d missed Alfred a lot, and he only really felt as though physicality would be able to express that. Let Alfred top, whatever position, where ever and just spend the day kissing with lazy handjobs. Maybe they could go out for dinner? It had been a while, after all. He scratched the back of his head, thinking it over a bit too much.

He wasn’t sure that Alfred had the energy for any of that.

“Feeling any better?”

Alfred just yawned and smiled, drinking more of his coffee. It was certainly relaxing and he felt himself at ease just drinking it. Though he was slowly starting to wake up once again. "Mm...much better." He murmured before leaning over to Arthur so he could press a lazy kiss to his lips.

He could taste tea from Arthur and even though he wasn't always the most fond of tea nowadays, he found himself to enjoy the taste of the coffee and tea mixing together. Soon he pulled away, looking over at the other man with love and affection.

It really was a lazy morning and he just continued on with his coffee, finishing the rest of it and feeling just a bit disappointed at how quickly it all just left.

"Though still a bit sleepy." He admitted with a small laugh.

Arthur returned the kiss, whilst it lasted. He smiled slowly across at Alfred, continuing to nurture his tea. Eventually, when he was finished, he placed the mug carefully on the bedside table and rolled across to Alfred. He placed his hand on the centre of his boyfriend’s chest and kissed his bare shoulder sweetly.

“Mmm, well, I can certainly think of a few things to cure that,” he rested his head on Alfred’s shoulder, looking up at him with a playful spark in his eyes. “A week is a very long time, you know.”

There was no way in hell that he was going to tell Alfred he’d spent the entire duration of their separation on the sofa. His back hurt, sure. But he was too proud.

Alfred just smiled back when he felt Arthur return the kiss and he just leant back against the head of the bed, using the pillow as a comfort. Though when the other looked up at him with that playful spark, the American quickly knew what Arthur was up to.

He would had been more than glad to indulge him usually...but...he was still rather tired and not necessarily in the mood. And he had a bit of suspicions as to why Arthur woke him up.

After all, it had been a really long time.

He just laughed slightly, stroking his hair. "Mm...but I'm still really tired, Arthur." He murmured. "Just wanna lay in bed with you." He admitted.

Post by Mr. Kirkland Mon Apr 23, 2012 2:22 am

Was that… rejection? Had Alfred just turned Arthur down for sex?

Arthur blinked confusedly at him and then cleared his throat, shifting a little either out of nerves or to make himself more comfortable. He stared at the wall ahead, shock seeping into his system.

“Right… yes, of course,” he nodded. “If that’s what you want.” Arthur sighed softly, feeling his muscles groaning from lack of movement for so long. He was getting a numb arse from sitting about. “I mean, I wasn’t – ” he stopped himself from continuing and grabbed his mug from the bedside table. He pecked Alfred on the cheek quickly and scuttled back to the kitchen.

“Going to make some more tea,” he said in explanation.

Something was up. Sure, Alfred was completely entitled to turn him down for sex and Arthur was not going to pressure him. But he’d been acting oddly ever since he’d come home. It was making Arthur uncomfortable.

Whilst the water was boiling, Arthur decided that he should relieve his bladder. What he didn’t expect to see as he was washing his hands afterwards, were a set of dog tags. He stared at the alien object, brow furrowed. He dried off his hands and picked it up; the metal chinked together, making Arthur’s teeth grind. It had DAVID JONES inscribed on to it along with a couple of dates. Wasn’t that Alfred’s father’s name?

As calmly as he could, Arthur returned to the bedroom, tea forgotten. He held the tags out so that Alfred could see them.

“Alfred, what are these?” he asked.

Alfred really didn't want to turn Arthur down for sex but he really couldn't help it. He just wasn't in the mood and he didn't want to engage in sex that he was not enthusiastic in. It was certainly not any fair to the other if he did that.

Though he still felt bad for turning him down.

With a soft sigh, he nodded before stretching back out on the bed, not all that sleepy anymore and instead just thinking. He simply relaxed for a bit, closing his eyes with a soft sigh as he felt the need just to cuddle with Arthur. That's what he needed right now.

Though he was a bit surprised when Arthur soon questioned him and he heard the soft chinking of metal together. Looking over at the other, he tried to keep calm though he froze up when he saw just what Arthur was holding.

He grew timid and meek.

"...Dog tags..." He whispered softly. Did he actually forget them in the bathroom? God...and Arthur saw...

Arthur only frowned further, noting the sudden nervousness evident in Alfred’s voice.

“No shit, Sherlock,” he ground out. He wasn’t sure why he was angry. Okay, that was a lie. He was angry because he’d missed Alfred all week and he had no idea of where he’d been or what he’d done, aside from the obvious lies that Alfred had told him. “Alfred,” he paused, “what are you trying to hide from me?”

Surely Alfred knew that he could trust Arthur with anything, that Arthur would still love him no matter what he did (within limitations).

“This isn’t fair. You can’t just disappear for a week and lie to me about what you’re doing. Why is it your father’s name on these? You’ve never had dog tags before…”

Alfred really tried his best not to lie... he was hiding things from him, yes, but he never really lied about anything. Except for the fact that he was alright. Because he wasn't. He just didn't want Arthur to be concerned over him.

He refused to look at Arthur as he instead stared down at the blanket, picking at a few loose threads.

"I wasn't lying." He murmured, voice shaking almost as if he was trying to hold back a few tears. He clenched the blanket tighter, pulling it more over himself so he could feel comfort and protection in a way.

"Isn't it obvious now?" He asked, not wanting to say it out loud. "It doesn't matter...I'm fine."

Post by Mr. Kirkland Mon Apr 23, 2012 2:51 am

It took a few moments for Arthur to process the situation and understand precisely what Alfred was saying. But when it hit him, he felt utterly awful for ever being angry. He stared at Alfred disbelievingly.

“He’s…” dead? “Alfred, I…” Arthur didn’t quite understand the emotion he was experiencing. Other than the obvious sympathy. He knew that when his own father died, it wouldn’t mean a lot to him but for Alfred, his father had been everything.

Dead.

It was such a shame, too. The guy had seemed pretty nice when Arthur had met him. He took a few deep breaths and proceeded forwards, able to notice the sparkles in his eyes that would likely form tears.

“I’m so sorry,” he murmured, putting the dog tags down next to Alfred’s empty coffee mug. “Darling… I didn’t… I’m sorry… why didn’t you tell me?” he perched on the edge of the bed, near enough gawking at Alfred.

“And no, you aren’t fine. Why on earth would you be fine?”

Same Job, Different Time and Place [R-18] - Part 2 - Page 23 Empty Re: Same Job, Different Time and Place [R-18] - Part 2

Alfred continued staring down at the blanket, picking at the threads lightly and he was scared about the other's reaction. He really thought that Arthur would had been angry at him for not telling him and he had no idea why he didn't tell him before. Maybe because he didn't want him to worry, maybe because he didn't want to seem weak and show that he could actually be strong for his father.

Though in the end, he really couldn't be and it just showed through the tears that he could feel rolling down his face.

He tried to frantically wipe them away with the blanket, ashamed that he was crying like this.

He wanted to be so much stronger for his father and for Arthur and for everyone but he couldn't be.

"I'm sorry..." He whispered. "I didn't want you to worry. I...wanted to be strong for my dad and ...I'm sorry." He wiped his tears again.

Why the hell wouldn't they stop?

He curled his knees closer up to his chest. "I'm fine." He tried to reassure, more for himself than Arthur. He was so far from fine though.
