Alfred was so excited to start another year at Hogwarts. After living in a muggle world and learning about the secret world of magic, he became addicted, because, seriously? That was only stuff that happened in movies! And he felt proud to ride the train back to Hogwarts school as a Gryffindor, captain of the quidditch team and most definitely the bravest and most heroic of all his fellow 5th years. And, okay, maybe in his past years he hadn't been all that great at passing his classes, but it wasn't as if he didn't try! He certainly did, he just had trouble keeping up with all the homework was all. His spellwork wasn't as great as the rest of the class, but he wasn't the worst after all! But one thing that he could not stand was that know-it-all Arthur Kirkland. Top of their year and Prefect no less, we was definitely annoying.

His parents had been so proud when he had gotten the letter during the holidays, he was to of course. But never expected any different.

He was Arthur Kirkland, now 5th year Gryffindor and wearing a shiny new prefect badge. He loved the world of magic and his four years of working hard, getting every spell perfect, getting the highest marks and being top of their year had paid off. This was his reward and intended not to let anyone down. He knew that some students classed him as a know-it-all, some like that loud mouthed git who apparently, for his mediocre grades and ability to lose them house points every once in a while, had been made captain of their quidditch team. Or so he had heard from one if his little fangirls during their first meeting as prefects.

He honestly didn't understand the logic of it. He was now walking down the train performing his first duty as prefect, making sure no one was messing around and that was exactly what a certain group was doing, as he reached their compartment on the train.

Alfred laughed loudly as he and his friends watched sparks flying around the compartment, but when Prefect Arthur Kirkland slid the compartment door open, Alfred stopped laughing. The smile slid off his face for just a moment, before it reappeared again; white teeth gleaming.

Alfred, still smiling, quickly looked Arthur up and down and spotted the shiny badge on his chest. Alfred's blue eyes then moved up to Arthur's face and noted that he didn't look very happy. At all, in fact. His eyebrows were furrowed and his eyes held this glare.

Alfred stared at his eyebrows just a second longer than he should've before he opened his mouth to speak.

"Hey, there Artie," he said casually, and everyone in the compartment got quiet, the sparks zooming around the room for a few more second then dying away into the tense silence. Alfred just stared at Arthur calmly while he waited for him to speak.

As he slid the compartment door open, Arthur's attention was immediately on the sparks flying around, then upon the group who were laughing. A glare was fixed upon his face and eyebrows furrowed, the sparks had faded and the group had silenced.. that almost made him want to grin. But he didn't because he was now face to face with the aforementioned grinning git, Alfred Jones. Who, since the first year, had butchered his name and always stared extra long at his eyebrows. Alfred knew it annoyed him, he was positive of that.

"Alfred. First thing, my name is ARTHUR" It didn't stop him from correcting him every single time though, even if now, after four years, the irritation was slipping and Arthur just said it to point out a fact. "And second of all, surely now that you are all fifth year, you should realize that magic outside of the school is not allowed. Things like that cause chaos anyway. So please, do compose yourselves and stop teaching the younger students bad habits hm?"

With a last glance to the no doubt leader of the group, Arthur shut the compartment door before any in the room could retaliate and moved on to continue his duties.

After the compartment door closed everyone began to snicker and mock Arthur's criticism. Everyone except Alfred. Sure, Alfred admits they had been acting pretty immaturely, and he knew that Arthur hated being called that (honestly, he just liked to see Arthur get all worked up about it), but he never before heard the authority that Arthur had in him. In his past four years he had learned that Arthur was a bossy sort of person, but he usually just brushed off Arthur's criticizing pokes and complaints with a laugh.

But this time it felt different. Alfred couldn't help but feel a little impressed by Arthur. He sure was taking his new role seriously. Instead of joining his friends in their jokes and conversations, he sat quietly for the rest of the ride and his mind just kept replaying that last glance he had received from Arthur Kirkland.

The rest of Arthur's journey was spent walking the aisle of the train, checking for troublemakers and sitting with his own small group of friends when his duties were done. His thoughts a little on Alfred's group... he had expected a little more trouble from them, four years of dealing with them had prepared him for this, but nothing... just the usual mocking after he had left. He wondered a little about it, he was pretty sure that Alfred's goal in life was to annoy him.

As the train stopped at the station, the older students who were all too aware of what to do by now, made their way off the train to the awaiting carriages. Arthur stopped behind to help the new first years, pointing out where they needed to go. The dreaded first boat ride to the school. He remembered it well.

That was when he caught sight of Alfred and his group again, making their way over also. He felt a light tug on his robes and turned to find a young girl, another lost first year asking for directions. "The group of first years are over there waiting, see them?" He pointed the direction she needed to go with a polite smile, the girl smiled and thanked him and ran off to join the group. The task now complete, Arthur made his way over to the carriages and joined his own group of friends.

In front of him stood Alfred... he thought he would have gone by now. He leaned forward to grab his attention. "Congratulations on being made captain! Let's hope you can win the cup for us this year eh? But don't forget your studies..wouldn't want ant T's this year would you?" There was humour in his voice, but his praise for being made captain was genuine. Alfred most definitely deserved it. Arthur just wished he would apply that enthusiasm into his studies, his grades could be perfect.

When Alfred got off the train with his friends, they made their way towards the carriages, but as his friends kept walking, he stopped and looked up. He saw Arthur helping a young girl go where she was supposed to. Alfred's friends called to him.

"You guys go ahead, I'll catch up in a sec."

They took his advice and got onto the enchanted carriages. Alfred didn't know why he wanted to stay behind. He just felt like he had to. He felt like he had to say something to Arthur. But when Arthur walked up and leaned closer to him, he felt his throat close up and his mind go blank. He had no idea what he was supposed to say.

Luckily, Arthur said something first. Alfred heard the mock in his voice at the mention of his grades, but he didn't really care. He was too busy trying to focus on the words Arthur was saying. Did he just congratulate him on making Captain for the quidditch team?

"Oh," Alfred said awkwardly, he scratched the back of his head nonchalantly, "yeah, thanks..." He laughed nervously. Why did he feel so stupid? "And congrats on becoming Prefect," he added, pointing vaguely to Arthur's chest. He made sure that his tone of voice showed no signs of falseness, and he hoped he sounded just as sincere as Arthur had. He couldn't hear his own voice over the sound of his heart pounding in his throat. What was wrong with him?

Arthur was vaguely aware of his own group of friends calling him, so they could claim a carriage. But instead here he stood, surprised that Alfred Jones had replied with kind, genuine words (or that he, himself, had even said something complimentary in the first place). "Thank you," He sounded as awkward as Alfred had just now, "as expected of a know-it-all eh?". He wasn't sure why he made such comments when they were actually having a civil conversation.

The two of them came from completely different backgrounds, Alfred from a completely muggle background and he, always been apart of the magic world as his mother was a witch. He was top of the year in classes and Alfred was the quidditch hero. For the previous four years all they had done was argue and mock each other, even though they were in the same house and even he wasn't completely sure why. There was just something, and yet....

Here they stood, for the first time in four years, talking normally. It was a miracle.

His friends, who were now sitting in a carriage, were getting annoyed at him for making them wait. So Arthur waved as a signal he was coming. "Seeing as your group have already left, you're welcome to join my friends and I if you want" He said, sounding a little nervous and rubbing the back of his head. "Completely up to you!"

Alfred felt a little more normal after Arthur's "know-it-all" comment. They were so used to picking on each other and pointing out the others flaws that, because they were having a civil conversation, everything felt backwards. For four years Alfred and Arthur had always argued with each other. There was no real reason why they did, they just did.

And now, as Alfred stood in front of Arthur, something felt different. He didn't feel like fighting.

Alfred heard Arthur's suggestion. Did Arthur really not mind Alfred coming along? And what would Alfred's friends say when they saw him come in with Arthur of all people. The person that Alfred seemed to get along with least of all?

"Yeah, I think I will. Thanks," Alfred said with a smile. A genuine smile. It really was nice of Arthur to allow him to join them, and he followed Arthur to the carriage full of Arthur's friends. Alfred gave everyone a happy smile as he joined them, but they just looked completely surprised that Arthur actually asked Alfred to join. Alfred sat their quietly, wishing everyone would stop looking at him with such shock.

The carriage ride up to the castle was silent. Alfred looked awkward surrounded a group who did nothing but stare at him as if he were an alien and Arthur was the recipient of glares. Some of which said clearly 'what is he doing here?', but as he was a prefect now (and aimed to be hopefully be head boy), he had to show he was serious and helpful to all students. Alfred included.

All of that faded from his mind though, as the carriages stopped outside the school he felt the same way he did every year he came back. Awe and excitement.

He climbed out of the carriage and smiled brightly. "Welcome back to Hogwarts everyone!" He said, happily. The group started talking animatedly about the feast ("I'm starving" One of them complained) and then about lessons, the one thing he was looking forward to the most. He noticed Alfred had now joined them and the carriage had gone.

"I suppose you'll want to go join your friends again!" He said, hesitantly. "I guess... I'll see you in the common room later!" With a small, polite smile, he left Alfred to find his group of friends.

Arthur started walking off, following his friends inside. Alfred breathed a small, "yeah" as a reply, more to himself since Arthur was no longer around. But he thought of the kind smile that Arthur had given him. It seemed sincere. What had changed this year that made them like this toward each other?

Alfred immediately forgot about this question when his stomach growled loudly. The feast. He should get inside; he was starving!

When Alfred found his seat next to his friends they all asked him what took him so long.

"Sorry guys, I just--" he started, but was cut off as the Headmaster of Hogwarts stood up and made his "beginning-of-the-year" announcements. Everyone's attention was on him and not one sound was made as his speech was being made. It covered the usual school rules (the Forbidden Forest is forbidden, 5th years are taking their O.W.L.s, Filch will be doing his usual business...), and after sorting, the speech, and dinner (as well as dessert), everyone was very tired and full. When the feast was over and Dumbledore told everyone to get some rest, everyone obeyed.

The whole great hall was soon standing and heading for the doors. The new first years were being led by Prefects to the Gryffindor common room. Alfred spotted Arthur leading the young kids along and found himself watching interestedly. But his thoughts were interrupted when his friends called his name, beckoning him over to get to the common room before they were stuck behind all the first years.

Alfred ran to catch up with his friends, looking back one last time before leaving Arthur and the first years behind.

As he had walked into the main hall, he took a moment to admire it all over again. The ceiling that looked like the night sky, the candles floating.. just everything. The empty plates on the table also reminded him just how hungry he was, so he took his seat as well, his group of friends smaller as a few of them were in different houses.

Even though he had heard the beginning-of-the-year announcements so many times, he still paid complete attention. Welcoming the new students to Gryffindor house, as a good prefect should, and of course being reminded that this year he faced O.W.Ls... not that he needed reminding of course. He was positive he could handle it. Then the moment everyone had been waiting for.. the feast, he didn't over eat as he still had prefect duties to do afterwards and didn't wish to feel like a balloon whilst leading a bunch of confused first years.

The announcement for sleep came at the right time, full of food and just wanting to get to the common to relax

He stood from his seat and brushed his robes down, then began calling the first years. "Excuse me, first years!" He called, as loud as he could, the noise of the hall made it difficult, "First years, if you'll follow me please!" The other Gryffindor prefect, an acquaintance at best, was also calling out and between them they managed to get the first years into one group. He turned to lead them out and caught Alfred looking at him, before he ran off to catch up with his own group.

Again he wondered what had changed this year, to make them act like this toward each other.

"Arthur!" A nudge from the other prefect and a group of first years wondering where the hell the hell to go, were staring at him. "Sorry, let's go then!" With that, they lead the group up the stairs and to the Gryffindor common room. The portrait door was already open as some other students were going in, so the group of first years wondered in and looked around their new surroundings.

Instead of heading to his own room for now, with a sigh, Arthur sat down in one of the plush chairs by the fire. It had been a strange day and for the first time in four years, he found himself looking around for Alfred Jones. He didn't like not knowing something.

((Oh my god, what is this XDD. I don't know.. anyway. Did you not get my PM? ;u; I sent you one with ideas about the RP! XD))

When he and his friends reached the Gryffindor common room with everyone else, Alfred decided to go to bed early. Maybe if he just got some rest, he could forget about this weird day and everything would be better in the morning. He could forget about everything that happened today with Arthur and they would be back to normal. Also, he would start classes and he would have to focus his attention on his classes instead, anyways. Then he would have no further distractions from Arthur Kirkland.

He took his glasses off, changed out of his robes and got into bed, pulling the covers up to his chin, reflecting on the train ride and hoped that he and Arthur would be back to poking fun at each other tomorrow.

Well, he would just have to wait and see, and he easily fell into a deep asleep.

The room had almost cleared and no sign of Alfred. The git must have headed straight up to his room, 'huh! that sounded more normal' he thought, before a yawn escaped and he decided it was best to give up for now. 'Bloody' he stomped heading for the stairs 'making me wait' up to the top, and opening the door to his own room 'the one time I wanted to talk to him'. He changed out of his robes and settled down for the night. In the morning, he was sure he would feel better.

The next morning came and Arthur was up early, he cleaned himself up and changed into his robes. He quickly made sure he had his wand ( Ash with a unicorn hair, something his parents found extremely amusing considering his fascination with the creatures), then glanced around the room to find the rest of them still asleep, he shook his head and made his way to the common room. Of course that was very nearly empty at this time, only a few students up and so he decided to head straight to the main hall again, for the three T's that started a good year: Tea, Toast and the new Timetable.

He made sure to look out for Peeves on the way through, it was still his favourite time to play pranks on the new first years, the poor sods. That walk had been a safe route thank god and now he was sat, blissfully, with a cup of warm tea and a few pieces of toast. Not too long later, he was joined by his small group and a quiet discussion started about the new year, O.W.Ls and lessons. That was when the rest of the school started to wake up and the hall began to fill up with hungry students.

When Alfred woke up the next morning, he felt very refreshed... as well as very hungry. He dressed quickly and as he was walking out, he noticed that Arthur's bed was already empty. He must already be down in the great hall, Alfred thought to himself. Oh! But why was he thinking that at all! He pushed the thought out of his head quickly and rushed down the stairs and out of the Gryffindor common room.

He reached the Great Hall (without any unlucky mishaps with Peeves) and found his seat next to one of his friends. He silently grabbed a plate and began shoveling food onto his plate, and with just a glance down the table, he noticed Arthur talkign to his friends. Alfred continued to grab food, while watching Arthur the whole time. As a result of his carelessness, he knocked over his friends cup of orange juice all over the table. Alfred mumbled a quiet "sorry" and went back to eating his breakfast, glancing up at Arthur everyone once in a while.

While he continued eating, Professor McGonagall handed schedules out to the Gryffindors. Alfred stopped shoveling food into his mouth to scan his schedule. According to his schedule, he had Charms, History of Magic, Divination, and Herbology. He sighed and went back to eating as he folded up his schedule and shoved it in his pocket.

(I'm pretty sure all age groups have the same classes right? So all fifth years would have the same classes every day, (except for elective kinda classes, like divination, ancient runes, etc.) right? Sorry, I just picked some really random classes for their first day XP sorry.)

After the hall had filled up, Arthur constantly felt he was being watched, but every time he looked around he found no one looking. He heard a shout down the table, someone had knocked over orange juice. He watched as Alfred apologised and went back to eating his breakfast.

Every once in a while, he got that irritating feeling again. But again, no one was looking in his direction.

Just as he was finishing his second cup of tea, Professor McGonagall started handing out the schedules. He smiled politely as the Professor handed him his own schedule. Divination was apparently first, he wasn't entirely sure why he had taken the lesson at times, the Professor was a tad on the eccentric side. But any branch of magic was interesting, he guessed.

Now lessons were about to start, Arthur decided to leave a little earlier to get one of the better seats in the room (preferably by the window). Saying a quick goodbye to the others, he had turned to leave but remembered that Alfred shared this class... should he? shouldn't he? He had to walk past him anyway. It couldn't hurt to continue being civil now would it? Instead...

"Hey, Alfred. As prefect for Gryffindor now, I'm going to make sure you stop losing points for lateness. So come on, you have Divination first lesson don't you?" Oh well, he had intended to be nice. But he'd still be walking with him, that was the intention. Alfred could still refuse, Arthur could see the surprise on his face, as well as the smirks waiting to burst out on the faces of his friends. Gits, the lot of them.

Alfred heard footsteps come up and then stop directly behind him. One of his friends across the table was looking over Alfred's head at something, and Alfred turned to see Arthur Kirkland standing there, with a slight scowl.

At Arthur's suggestion that they walk together, Alfred heard his friend next him hold his breath to keep from laughing, but Alfred didn't look. Instead he smiled at Arthur, despite his slight bossiness, and nodded. "Okay, yeah." Alfred grabbed his bag and waved quickly to his friends before standing up and walking down the row of tables toward the entrance to the Great Hall right next to Arthur.

As they walked, Alfred wasn't sure what to say. He felt like he should make some sort of joke about Arthur's enormous eyebrows or maybe pester him about how Alfred was a hero and didn't need help getting to classes, thanks. But at the same time, none of those things seemed like the right thing to say, especially since yesterday. He felt like maybe he should actually try to be a bit nicer to Arthur. Afterall, Arthur did have good intentions, trying to get Alfred to class on time. But nothing came to mind, so Alfred walked next to Arthur in silence, hoping the smaller boy would say something to keep this long and rather unexpected walk together from getting too awkward.

Well... This was certainly worse than the trip up to the school. He never thought about the actual walk up to classroom, so here he was, wondering what the hell to say. Besides from stuff he had learnt about Alfred and years of arguing face to face with him, he didn't know much. He knew mostly about his grades and how infuriating it was that he didn't do better, this year would be harder and he was generally concerned that if he didn't pull his head out of his hero bubble, he would suffer for it.

He glanced over to see Alfred looking like he was deep in thought, rather awkward actually. Could it be? Alfred Jones didn't know what to say for once? He had to stop himself from laughing, it was one of looks that made you want to poke his cheeks (not that he would, he wasn't that childish thank you). But as everyone knew, he also wasn't one for awkward conversation.

"So.. O.W.Ls are this year! Are you even worried" He said, grabbing Alfred's attention, talking about school was one thing he would never get nervous or awkward over.

Alfred turned to look at Arthur, thankful that the other had said something.

"Oh, yeah," Alfred replied, a little downheartedly. His grades were never great because he put so much attention in quidditch that it seemed like he never had the time to finish the rest of his school stuff.

"Yeah, I am," Alfred voiced, "I mean, my grades arent' all that great, and I know I've gotta focus this year, but honestly, I'm just not that good at magic..." He trialed off. He felt like an idiot, especially talking to the smartest wizard in his year. He just felt like no matter how hard he tried, he could never get his spells right and his potions were always mediocre. He really needed to pass his O.W.L.s......

"Well, I know you aren't worried, huh?" Alfred asked. It was a bit of a joke, but he was being honest. How could the most clever wizard in his whole year feel worried about something as simple as O.W.L.s? Alfred's heart sank lower in his chest. Why did he have to feel like such an idiot right now?

Listening to Alfred now, it seemed the other was certainly aware of his trouble. But Arthur had seen what he could do when he tried, that's why it infuriated him so much that. But at the moment, all he could do was feel sorry for him. "Listen, you are not terrible at magic. You are... actually quite decent... when you try. You just need to focus more, like you do with quidditch" He offered a comforting smile, it was truly what he believed these last few years, as well as-

"You know, you are ...amazing at quidditch. And that's because you apply yourself to it. You really need to do that this year in your lessons, otherwise you will fail. Simple as" He stuttered at the beginning. To give him a compliment was always so difficult, so he always ended up being harsh in the past. His tone had turned serious at the end though, he wasn't trying to be mean, just telling the truth. "Even though I'm top of the year, I still intend to study hard to make sure I pass, they say stress gets to even the cleverest during these exams. If you're really concerned.. you should get someone to help you! Quit the damn hero complex for once" He smirked, everyone knew of his hero complex.

As he said that, they arrived at the class, but the door was still shut and hardly any people waiting outside. Perfectly early. Now they just had to wait.

Alfred took in everything that Arthur had said. Did he really thing he was decent at magic? Alfred swelled a little with happiness that he was getting such a nice compliment from Arthur.

Alfred stopped with Arthur in front of the ladder that led up to the trapdoor. Alfred was looking at the closed trapdoor as Arthur finished his sentence. Alfred couldn't give up his hero complex! He was a hero afterall!

"Thanks... about the quidditch thing I mean, but I can't stop being a hero! It's just who I am!" With that, he leaned forward a bit so his face was level with Arthur's and he gave Arthur his best smile and a small wink. "But I guess I could use a little help studying for my O.W.L.s....." Alfred trailed into thought for a second. And then, an idea popped into his head.

"Hey! What if you helped me? You know, with my O.W.L.s? I'm sure I could get a much better score if I got help from you!!" Alfred waited for Arthur to reply, his face lit up with genuine excitement.

He saw the look of shock on the others face, but simply looked away and nodded when Alfred thanked him, embarrassed. He snorted as he announced he could never stop being a hero. “Of course, why would you stop being a bloody hero, I mean--” He had turned to berate him about something to do with his heroics, but that line of thought vanished when he found Alfred leaning much, much closer to him. Close enough to see his very blue eyes and a bright smile.

He stepped back suddenly, surprised and felt his back hit the wall. He felt his face flushing and heart racing. “Bloody hell, don’t do that” He said, trying to compose himself, managing to catch Alfred’s apparent genius idea. “Before I agree to anything, I want to see just how much help you need. And if I DO… there’s something I want in return.. But I won’t talk about it now. Since I haven’t agreed to anything yet!”

The favour he wanted in return was also embarrassing for him to admit to, something he was sure Alfred would torment him for.

Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy-Warty Hogwarts! Empty Re: Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy-Warty Hogwarts!

Alfred's face went from an expression of pure joy from Arthur (almost) accepting to sheer curiosity.

"Oh, c'mon Artie! Can't ya just tell me now?" Alfred's eyes were bright with curiosity and his smile gleamed mischievously. Why was Arthur so shy to tell him what Alfred could give him in return? Surely Alfred could help out Arthur, being the hero he was.

Alfred noticed how Arthur was practically against the wall and he was about to lean in close again to try and interrogate him on his secret favour, but just as he was about to open his mouth to pester Arthur, the trap door in the floor above them opened up with a BANG! and the class began to climb the ladder to reach the classroom.

Alfred watched as Arthur slipped past him and joined the rest of the class at the base of the ladder, taking turns to climb up. Alfred sighed and joined Arthur in the queue.

"Anyway, I just really hope that you will help me... you're the best at everything and it would be really awesome if you decided to help me... even though I have been a bit of a jerk to you in the past..." Alfred looked away from Arthur, his embarrassment clear on his face. He did feel bad for picking on Arthur so much and he kinda hoped that they could just... start over. Arthur could teach Alfred and maybe Alfred could teach Arthur something, too, though Alfred doubted it. And maybe along the way, Alfred could learn more about the person that he didn't take the time to get to know in the first place.

Arthur managed to compose himself before he joined the queue to get into the class, cursing that they were half way down the line. Say goodbye to that table by the window.

"I'm not explaining it now!" He said, in such a matter that said 'end of subject'. He slowly followed the line as he listened to Alfred, glancing over as he did. They had both been idiots in the past, arguing and riling each other up. It had started literally from the moment they had met.

~Memory~
He had just been announced as the newest student of Gryffindor, Professor McGonagall removed the sorting hat from his head and so he took that his signal to move from the stool. He smiled wearily as he moved towards the applauding table. He sat down in the next available space, opposite the boy who had been called up first. A lad a little taller than him with brown hair. He smiled kindly at Arthur and offered his hand to shake. "Glad to see you in Gryffindor. My name's Robert Adams! Nice to meet you!" He was sure of himself, Arthur knew that much.

"Nice to meet you too! I'm Arthur Kirkland. God, who knew putting on hat could make you so nervous?" A shaky laugh escaped him as he shook Robert's hand. At that point, he heard a loud, boisterous laughter from beside him. It was one of those that could annoy you quite easily, but he wasn't TOO judgemental of people.

He turned to see the boy who had gone before him, with a different shade of blonde hair to himself and blue eyes. Alfred Jones was his name. "Jeez, everyone has said the same thing about the hat! I guess it's only heroes like me that don't get nervous eh?" He was American as well. Again, Arthur smiled awkwardly and held his hand out to greet a new classmate. "Nice to meet you. I'm Arthur Kirkland"

Alfred had taken his hand to shake it, but stared at him before a big grin broke out on his face. "Nice to meet ya Artie. Are those really your eyebrows?" He laughed, and Arthur glared.

~End of memory~

It had all started from that. Arthur inwardly sighed and walked forward closer to the ladder."W-well, as I said, we'll see just how much help you need, but I'm sure it won't be a problem" Being called the best always made him a little smug, but as a prefect, he couldn't turn down helping another student. And Alfred was being oddly nice for a change.

He had climbed the ladder and was now in the stuffy room that he admittedly hated the most, luckily one of the window tables was free, so Arthur made his way over to it as quickly as possible. Professor Trelawney hadn't made her appearance yet, so Arthur quickly opened one of the windows before the fumes got to him "I wonder what we'll be studying this term!"

Alfred climbed up after Arthur and immediately felt a slight heaviness as he pulled himself up into the heavily perfumed room. He followed Arthur over to a table by the window and sat down as Arthur opened the window.

Arthur seemed excited as he sat in his seat, looking towards the front of the classroom, waiting for the teacher to show up. Alfred couldn't help but smile a bit as he watched Arthur from the corner of his vision. He didn't really understand how Arthur could get so excited about school. Especially for this class. Alfred knew that Trelawney was a total phony, no one could make predictions from shapes in tea leaves or how the planets aligned, that was all just made up. The only reason he had taken this class was to fill up space in his schedule and it seemed like one the easiest compared to some of the other options, like Ancient Runes.........

Professor Trelawney stepped into the firelight, her jewelery twinkling in the low light of the fire.

"Welcome class," she said in her usual husky voice, "to your first lesson of Divination."
